Press Release

ERIE, CO – In a bid to unseat the current Mayor of Erie, Christiaan van Woudenberg is proud to announce his candidacy for Mayor of Erie in the April 7, 2020 election.

Christiaan and his daughters.

Says van Woudenberg, “Erie is at a crossroads; with courage and conviction, we can take the necessary steps to ensure Erie’s place as a unique Front Range destination for recreation & sport, brew pubs & restaurants, arts & entertainment, and a great place to start or grow a business. Together, we can realize Erie’s true potential as Colorado’s best place to raise a family.”

The health, safety, and welfare of the residents of Erie have always been Christiaan’s first priority; first as the editor-in-chief of the Erie Protectors, and now as a Trustee for the Town of Erie. He spends much of his time focused on oil & gas issues; he also serves as Board liaison to the Sustainability Advisory Board and the Tree Board. He has recently joined a Boulder County task force to address youth access to tobacco products.

From the new urbanist design of the Town Center by DPZ CoDesign to the new coworking community by CoSolve, Christiaan embraces these “place-making” opportunities to diversify the Town’s revenue streams, lessening its reliance on development-related revenue. He looks forward to a thriving Erie community that is both economically and environmentally sustainable.

Christiaan is endorsed by Lafayette Mayor Jamie Harkins, Berthoud Mayor William Karspeck, Broomfield Mayor-Pro Tem Guyleen Castriotta, and Former Commerce City Councilman Steve Douglas.
